Local schools in the area will be some of the first in the state to receive upgraded amenities under the government’s $40 million Public School Upgrade Program.
Strathfield MP, Charles Casuscelli inspected Chalmers Road Public School, a school which caters for children with disabilities, late last year and said the state of the school’s facilities was in dire need of renovation.
“I inspected Chalmers Road School in November last year and was appalled at the state of its amenities. I asked the school principal to send me details of their most pressing needs,” he said.
“The Chalmers Road School has been allocated $135,000 for toilet replacement and an amenities upgrade to the therapy pool.
Upgrades of the school started during the summer holidays.
“By the time school starts, students, teaches and parents will start benefitting from these improvements,” said Caususcelli.
