Police are seeking a small black car with a large rear spoiler after a 12-year-old boy was approached by a stranger offering him sweets while walking home from school near Davey Square Reserve on Beresford Road, Strathfield.
Officers said a man got out of the passenger seat of the NSW-registered car and offered the boy lollies on March 22. The child ignored the offer and kept walking toward Rochester Road, with the man following him on foot.
When the boy became concerned, he ran up a nearby laneway to get away. When he got home, he told his mother who reported the matter to police on Saturday.
Officers from Flemington Local Area Command have appealed for witnesses.
They are seeking a large-built man of Caucasian appearance, aged in his early 30s, about 175cm tall, with short greying black hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt with a coloured pattern on it and black tracksuit pants.
The car's number plates were believed to have spelled out a word with OO making up the two middle digits.
