The Greens were this weekend desperately searching for a substitute candidate for the seat of Strathfield, after their pre-selected candidate quite over health.
Burwood Councillor Christine Donayre announced her withdrawal from her campaign today due to health reasons.
Donayre said she had been ill over the Christmas break and is no longer fit to run for the position of a Strathfield MP.
"I have been sick over the Christmas period and am still recovering," she said. "I believe that in order to recover completely I need to take some time off. This is not conducive to running a vigorous election campaign for Strathfield."
Local group secretary Margaret Levin says Donayre is a credit to the Greens party and wish her support in her recovery.
"We completely support her and wish her a swift recovery," said Levin.
"We have begun the pre-selection process for the state seat of Strathfield. We will be out there in the community in no time."
