The Strathfield Rotary’s Pride of Workmanship awards celebrate the achievements of our local heroes – the community members who run businesses and provide services that help us in our everyday lives.
Last night, the Rotarians awarded six people who were nominated by an employer or a community member for their outstanding contribution in their workplace.
President of the Strathfield Rotary, Trevor Duxbury said all awardees have touched the lives of the people they help and have provided great services to the Strathfield community.
“The Pride of Workmanship Awards are awarded to people who have shown commitment and dedication to their job. They have been nominated by their employers, co-workers or members of the community because they stand out.”
The Ray Sherry Memorial Shield, an award that is given to a recipient who has been a stood out in the workplace, was awarded to May Oritz from the Australian Catholic University who oversees 100 staff members.
Professor Paul White nominated Oritz for her dedication not just her job as an administrator, but her dedication to her co-workers.
"We had to create a new title for May at the the university. She runs the place and she looks after not only just me, but all of us."
Nancy Sherry, wife of the the late Rotarian, Ray Sherry was given a special award for her fundraising efforts.
