Wests Tigers NRL halfback Robert Lui has been charged with assaulting his girlfriend in a home in North Strathfield, the club says.
Burwood police charged 21-year-old Lui following an alleged domestic assault on Monday night and was given bail.
Police were called to Lui’s home at about 7pm on George Street in North Strathfield, where they found a woman with swelling to her face.
He was arrested and taken to Burwood Police Station where he was charged with assault and occasioning actual bodily harm.
The charge comes after the Tigers were eliminated from the 2011 NRL competition after loosing to the Warriors last Friday night.
This is the second time Lui has been charged with domestic assault.
In Septemeber last year, Lui was charged with nine offences after assaulting his girlfriend Taleah Rae Backo who was pregnant at the time. The assault came hours after the team was knocked out of the NRL Finals.
Lui and Backo are reunited and all assault charges were dismissed in April.
Lui will appear in Burwood Local Court on October 7.
