Police arrest and charge 32-year-old man over sexual assault in Homebush West

Police have arrested and charged a 32 year-old Merrylands man following investigations into an alleged sexual assault at a flat in Homebush West on September 17.

Strathfield parents are having to send their children to after-school care outside of our municipality 

A shortage of well-priced out-of-school care in Strathfield means parents are  sending  their children to centres outside the area.

But relief could be on the way. At its meeting this week Strathfield Council voted to set up a working group to look
closely at the issue of out-of-hours childcare in the municipality – and lobby for greater funding from both the
State Government and non-government agencies.

To bring in a prosperous new year, lion dancers parading down Henley Street in Homebush West

 

Homebush West today became a bustling ground for prosperity and good luck with the Paddy’s Market Chinese lion parading down Henley Street.

 

Excited shop owners and residents gathered around to watch the acrobatic stunts of the Jin Wu Koon Shaolin Double Dragon Kung Fu Academy.

 

Mayor of Strathfield, Tony Maroun and Strathfield MP Virginia Judge joined in the festivities as the lion took offerings of cabbage from restaurants and businesses.

Strathfield in need of CCTV cameras

Strathfield Council has lodged an application with the Federal Government for $150,000 to install a network of CCTV surveillance cameras in crime hotspots across Strathfield, Homebush and Homebush West.
